Goodwin Point is a private investment firm created by Rob Southern for the sole purpose of making a strategic investment in one business. Rob will relocate with his family and dedicate 100% of his professional energy to day-to-day operations in pursuit of sustainable long-term growth.
Rob enjoys building and leading teams for rapidly growing companies.
His career started in Boston, MA where he spent six years with EnerNOC, a leading provider of technology-enabled energy management solutions. At EnerNOC Rob managed a team with shared profit & loss responsibility for 10 regional energy management programs representing over $85M of annual revenue. He joined when the company was privately held and had 150 employees and $35M in revenue and helped hire hundreds of people as it grew to 750 employees and $400M in revenue.
After EnerNOC Rob took on the role of Director of Operations at Lucid Design Group, an energy efficiency software company based in Oakland, CA where he oversaw application support, integration engineering, and project management. Lucid raised over $15M of funding and doubled headcount during his tenure.
Rob left Lucid to earn his MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA where he was a James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellow.
Rob grew up outside of Boston, MA. When he isn't working he is hanging out with his family - his wife, daughter, dog, and two cats - and whenever possible, reading, rock climbing, golfing, grilling, and home-brewing.
